HK Memory Chest Kit Club - April 2016

Hi there. Another month gone. Haven't been scrapping a lot last month as there was a lot going on and couldn't seem to get the time. I did do a couple of kids classes and of course this month's kit samples.

Talking about this kit, I just love it. Lots of neutral and muted colours, a bit of grunge and a bit of romantic. Perfect for any layout.

The sketch for this month:

Dear Friends
This paper comes with it's own brush painted frame printed on it, so it's a no-brainer to place a photo in that space and work around it. We used to have monthly girl's night dinner until one of us left Hong Kong and then they sort of fizzled out. She came back for a week's visit and so we went to our favourite restaurant to catch up and have plenty of laughs. Still, should be no excuse not to have the regular dinners with three of us in the future.
The kit comes with chipboard air balloons that spell 'dream', but I left the 'm' out and changed it to 'dear'.
I layered on a several strips of patterned paper as well as stenciled kraft cardstock.
For the bottom left corner, I layered on some different stickers, chipboard and wooden elements. Love the chipboard 'best friends' tag.

Drive Day
I love the grungy numbers background paper and it goes well with the theme of the photos, which were taken on hubby's birthday. We hired the venue for a grown up simulator race night. Really cool and the 'cars' drove just like the real thing, although they were stationary.
The kit comes with actual sized playing card alphabets and are so cool for making oversized titles. I used some chipboard buttons under the title as a fun 'wheel' accent.
For the base, I taped off a 'driving path' and stenciled with coloured molding paste. I added a small accent corner on the top right of the page. Love the film strip sticker.
Again, a few accents to balance the page out.

Moments in Time
For this next layout, I worked with the green polka dot paper. Most of the papers already have printed layers on, but I added more on dimension. The photos were taken in Tokyo just before we got on the bullet trains to the northern prefectures.
Read made layered chipboard makes this kit easy to put together and love that the quotes are so adaptable.
A cluster of accents on the top left. I love the sheet of grungy alphas that you can cut out and use for titles. I used them for all my pages as I loved them too much.
Adorable layered chipboard to balance off the top right of the page. I also chose the G and C playing cards to denote Miss C and myself in the photos.

Sweet Beautiful Faces
I chose the understated book pages background paper as a perfect foil for splattering and layering. The photo was taken from the end of my bed where they love to lounge.
Lots of layering with playing cards, bracket frames and other accents.
Air balloons never go out of style. They are so symmetrical, therefore make for great accents.
The printed sticker doesn't need much more embellishments other than a flower and some extra chipboard tags.

Wonderful Vatican

Hi there,

Here's a layout I did a few months ago but never got around to posting. For some reason I felt like it was still missing something but after squinting at it for ages, I can't put my finger on what, so I guess I have to consider it finished.

 Wonderful Vatican
This paper line is so elegant and gives off a "European" feel and I felt it fitted this photo well. One of my favourite dies is the roman numeral clock die and love how it looks in this layout.
I layered lots of different labels and banners under the flowers to give more details.
I love, love, love this arched doorway die cut. This was the piece that inspired me to use this exact photo. I embossed the peach patterned paper to give a little more texture.

Products Used
Patterned papers, die cuts and brads from Bo Bunny The Avenues collection
Beaded white peony fabric flowers by Petaloo Flora Doodles
Rose flowers from Prima Marketing
Weathered clock die by Tim Holtz Alterations

What do you think? Does it need something else? Maybe a bit of gesso on the background? Hmmm...

Anyway, thanks for dropping by,

I'm Back and Playing Catch Up! HKMC September Kit Club

Hey there, *Comes out of hiding and gives a wave*

I know I haven't been around for ages and ages. I have been scrapbooking though; just very bad at blogging lately. Doesn't help that my computer is acting up and keeps shutting down on me mid-sentence. Really have to take it in for repairs next week when we go away (yet again).

Anyway, let's get straight back into it, shall we?

Running from September to June every year, HKMC Kit Club kick started off with a wonderful summery kit for September, with papers by Bo Bunny.

This year, we're adding a complimentary sketch, designed by moi, that you can use or just take inspiration from.  This one is based on my layout, Life's A Beach.

Here are the layouts we created with this kit.

Life's A Beach
I do giggle a little at the title. Love the bright lime green polka dot background. These pics were taken in Isle of Wight this summer. The perfect English summer beach day.
The bottle caps fit a 1" round paper circle, which I punched from one of the papers. I then layered on Glossy Accents to seal.
I spritzed the Heidi Swapp Color Magic tags with her Color Shine in both Mustard and Teal.
Love the little yellow flowers and I also used some of the add-ons to embellish the page.

Fly Little Butterfly

Hi everyone,

Busy, busy making cakes lately, that I've been slacking on my scrapbooking. I was going through my past kits last week to try and reuse some of them. To my surprise, there are still one or two I hadn't even opened yet. The one I used for this next layout was from two years ago, but that doesn't mean it's out of date. The papers are so pretty and timeless and really wonderful to work with. I actually started this layout last Friday and didn't finish it until last night. That's probably the longest it's taken for me to finish off a layout.

Fly Little Butterfly
Lots of butterflies and flowers to complement the flower photo. I love how dreamy it all looks.
Layers of lace and a mix of flowers add lots of dimension. I added Stickles to the mini alphas to make them shine.
How pretty is the background paper. Just so romantic. I added a tear and backed it with a contrast blue paper.
Lots of butterflies were cut from the patterned paper and covered in Stickles.
I love the cameo in the middle of the large flower. Also love the banners with the liquid pearl dots and the little crystal bling I randomly dotted around the page.

Products Used
Papers, cameo and stickers from Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection
Large flower, roses, alphabet stickers, stencil and crystal bling from Prima Marketing
Hydrangea and mini flowers from Petaloo
Stickles and Liquid Pearls from Ranger Inks
Light Molding Paste from Golden
Walnut Stain Distress Ink from Tim Holtz for Ranger Inks
Various lace from stash

There are a couple of projects floating around, half finished, but hopefully, I'll be able to show you all soon.

Thanks for looking,

Christmas in March?

Hi there,

After three months, I finally hunkered down and got a Christmas layout done. Two pages, actually. What a feat. I'm not big on holiday pages and Christmas is the worst. Don't get me wrong; I love Christmas as a holiday, but I seem to difficulty when it comes to scrapbooking the event. Dark, indoor, repetitive photos and so many that I don't know which ones to put down on the page.

For this double pager though, I have two wonderful subjects, so it was easier to get done.  When Miss C and her cousin get together (which is not often as one lives in the UK and one here in HK), they are thick as thieves. It's so nice to see the interaction. Like brother and sister, without the fighting. I guess it's because they only see each other for a few weeks out of a year.

Naughty? Nice?
I don't usually do a lot of double layouts, but this one had too many cute photos not to be included. I did them both in contrasting papers, but kept the embellishments similar to keep it cohesive.
I was originally going to do two separate layouts, but in the end, decided to combine them both.
That way, I could add in more photos, and not worry too much about embellishments or a title space.
The chipboard, brads and papers are super cute.
What could be better than Father Christmas on skates?

Products Used
Papers, mini letter stickers and brad from Bo Bunny Mistletoe collection
Chipboard embellishments from MAMBI
White cardstock

I know for sure I have one more Christmas layout to do for 2012. Let's see what time of year that one gets done. Haha.

Thanks for dropping by,
