Ballet Belles

Hi there. It's that time of year again when Miss C has her ballet exams and there are lots of practice sessions and mock exams. Love all the girls in their exam outfits.

Ballet Belles
I matched the photo to a more muted background to let it stand out more. Loving the deep peacock blue of the outfits.
I stenciled in some flowers with modeling paste before sewing in a few circles in blue thread. I also stamped a few accents around the photo area and added small clusters of flowers. I coloured in the sticker letters with an alcohol ink marker in the closest colour I could match to the outfits and even found a small snippet of ribbon to place on the flowers.
The houses are rather irrelevant to the photo but I loved them so much, I had to use them. You don't always have to match embellishments and papers to your photo, they can be used as a touch of whimsy.
The pack came with some gorgeous feathers that matched the colours perfectly.

A Day Of Serenity

Hi there. In all the years I've been scrapbooking, I can probably count on one hand the number of layouts I've done of just myself. I'm not keen on getting my photo taken on most days and to put it down on a layout, even less. Once in a while, you have to let go of the inhibitions and do a layout just for you.

A Day of Serenity
You know I'm a sucker for flowers and it's been a while since I got to play with them and such a gorgeous paper collection. Love the browns and pinks together. The photo was taken on a lazy day in bed, testing out my new phone camera. Not too shabby, I guess.
Plenty of flowers bunched around with some decorative brads.
Another corner of flowers. So beautiful.
For the background, I splattered pink, gold and brown mist inks before stenciling in a some swirls with modeling paste.

Life Is About Moments

Hi there. I did this layout a couple of weeks ago and only got around to posting it today. It's a pretty simple layout which for some reason took me a while to put together. I try to keep my layouts fresh and for some reason I was having a bit of a blockage when doing this one. Nonetheless, I'm quite happy with it.

Life Is About Moments
I love the freshness of the papers and they go well with the greenness of the photos. They were taken during the CNY holidays. Unfortunately, the bamboo was part of an installation in a shopping mall. Wish it was a real bamboo forest.
I layers strips of papers of different lengths behind the photos. A small accent corner to accommodate the title and a rosette.
 Another small accent corner.
Finish off with a top edge accent to balance off the page.

Smile Beyoutiful

Hi there. I'm looking out the window as I type this and all I see is a wall of white mist. We are truly into spring, Hong Kong style - always with high humidity and lots of rain. It gets so bad sometimes that visibility is down to ten metres, as it is now. Best to stay in and do some scrapbooking instead.

Here's one I did a few days ago for the MCS March sketch challenge. Cutting it very close as today is the deadline for the challenge, so I'm posting this before time runs out.

Smile Beyoutiful
I love all the gorgeous spring colours in the layout, just so bright and cheerful. I followed the sketch quite closely this time. The photo was taken a couple of month ago.
I fussy cut some flowers from one of the papers and added several contrasting papers for the strips behind the photo.
Some tags and banners add more interest to the page.
Loving all the glitter accents around the page to tie it all together.

HK Memory Chest Kit Club - April 2016

Hi there. Another month gone. Haven't been scrapping a lot last month as there was a lot going on and couldn't seem to get the time. I did do a couple of kids classes and of course this month's kit samples.

Talking about this kit, I just love it. Lots of neutral and muted colours, a bit of grunge and a bit of romantic. Perfect for any layout.

The sketch for this month:

Dear Friends
This paper comes with it's own brush painted frame printed on it, so it's a no-brainer to place a photo in that space and work around it. We used to have monthly girl's night dinner until one of us left Hong Kong and then they sort of fizzled out. She came back for a week's visit and so we went to our favourite restaurant to catch up and have plenty of laughs. Still, should be no excuse not to have the regular dinners with three of us in the future.
The kit comes with chipboard air balloons that spell 'dream', but I left the 'm' out and changed it to 'dear'.
I layered on a several strips of patterned paper as well as stenciled kraft cardstock.
For the bottom left corner, I layered on some different stickers, chipboard and wooden elements. Love the chipboard 'best friends' tag.

Drive Day
I love the grungy numbers background paper and it goes well with the theme of the photos, which were taken on hubby's birthday. We hired the venue for a grown up simulator race night. Really cool and the 'cars' drove just like the real thing, although they were stationary.
The kit comes with actual sized playing card alphabets and are so cool for making oversized titles. I used some chipboard buttons under the title as a fun 'wheel' accent.
For the base, I taped off a 'driving path' and stenciled with coloured molding paste. I added a small accent corner on the top right of the page. Love the film strip sticker.
Again, a few accents to balance the page out.

Moments in Time
For this next layout, I worked with the green polka dot paper. Most of the papers already have printed layers on, but I added more on dimension. The photos were taken in Tokyo just before we got on the bullet trains to the northern prefectures.
Read made layered chipboard makes this kit easy to put together and love that the quotes are so adaptable.
A cluster of accents on the top left. I love the sheet of grungy alphas that you can cut out and use for titles. I used them for all my pages as I loved them too much.
Adorable layered chipboard to balance off the top right of the page. I also chose the G and C playing cards to denote Miss C and myself in the photos.

Sweet Beautiful Faces
I chose the understated book pages background paper as a perfect foil for splattering and layering. The photo was taken from the end of my bed where they love to lounge.
Lots of layering with playing cards, bracket frames and other accents.
Air balloons never go out of style. They are so symmetrical, therefore make for great accents.
The printed sticker doesn't need much more embellishments other than a flower and some extra chipboard tags.
