Little Miss E

Hello there. Finally, a bit of nomalcy. With the New Year and Chinese New Year so close together and lots of things happening in between, we haven't really had many Thursday crop sessions at my place, so it was lovely to have the ladies over today to crop, chat and eat. I really missed the camaraderie, bouncing ideas of each other and of course completing a layout or project.

Today, I decided was a flower day, so out came the flower stash to do this layout of my cousin in-law's baby girl. She is the cutest baby and I must admit, I go to their place as often as I can to get in my cuddles and new baby smell.

This layout is based on the sketch from My Creative Sketches February sketch challenge.

The papers are actually Valentine's themed but they are pastel enough for a baby layout. I always love a wood grain paper for that rustic look and the printed flower swag on the top is so pretty. Isn't little Miss E the cutest baby. She looks so sweet with her hat and those big eyes - just melted.
Lots of fussy cutting and layering of flowers and paper accents. I added a key for an extra accent.
For the background, I stenciled in a damask pattern and also used my favourite script stamp randomly around the page for added interest. I added a pink ribbon bow and also hung a metal love heart from the bow. The metal heart was more shiny silver in colour and I broke out my long neglected alcohol inks to give it an aged look. Lots of flowers to set off the top right accent.
A small accent corner on the top left of the photo, mainly to cover some glue spots.
A couple of small word stickers to balance off the bottom of the page.

Patterned papers from Blue Fern Studios Blush collection
Word stickers from We R Memory Keepers Crush collection

Winter Blues

Hi there. We certainly had a lot of fun during our Japan trip just before Chinese New Year. We took the bullet train up to Akita in the North West of the main island and also to Aomori for a few days. Lots of lovely snow to play with and yummy Japanese food. I never get tired of going to Japan.

Miss C loves the snow and wanted to be out in it every second. Too cold for me, but she could play in it for hours if I let her.

Finally able to use a snow collection from My Creative Scrapbook January Creative kit and I love all the blues and purples in the papers.

Snow Much Fun
I love all the blue papers and patterns for the background.  I tore strips of different patterned papers to lay across the background. The photos were taken in Aomori, Japan.
I love all the glitter on the diecuts and alphas.
Glittery pink flowers bring a touch of feminine to the page.
Nothing better than a hot drink to warm up a cold snow day. Love the ready made rosettes.

Products Used
Patterned papers from Echo Park Hello Winter collection and Pebbles Winter Wonderland collection
Diecuts, washi tape and rosette from  Pebbles
White glitter Thickers from American Crafts

HK Memory Chest Kit Club - February 2016

Hi there. January has just whizzed past and we're already in the second month of 2016. Chinese New Year is coming up fast and then Valentine's Day. March will be busy as well with several birthdays.

This week, we're off to Japan for a few days to get in some snow and food. Looking forward to the food, not so much the snow, although Miss C is very excited for both. We usually do an annual trip with the husband's company and the staff and they always choose to go to Japan. This will be the third time we will be going during the winter time, so I'm hoping next year we'll go in Spring time.

On to the HKMC February kit. Full of romantic papers, embellishments, lace and gems and even a stencil. Perfect for those Valentine's layouts and a lovely contrast to the contemporary kit from January.

The sketch for this month:

Forever Love
Beautiful shabby chic papers with lots of flowers and butterflies. The photo is one of my cousin during her wedding day. It was a low key affair and she wore black instead of white, but she looked so pretty in it.
I stenciled in some flowers on the background paper before adding pinks and greys. I added a cluster of elements to the top right corner; flowers and a butterfly.
For the lower left corner, I kept it simple with just a butterfly and key accent.
I added liquid pearl drops all around the page to give it some pop. I love the little butterfly locket accent in the bottom right corner.

My Sweet Kitty
I love the bold red background and wanted to keep the layout simple and centred to let the paper shine. The photo is of my sweet little boy who is cuddled up next to me right now as I type. He's getting on in age and I treasure every moment I have with him.
I added a strip of lace to the paper strips under the photo. I also used the stencil which comes with the kit to the background paper for an extra accent. I love the foam words that come in the kit.
The butterfly stamp comes in the kit and is such a great addition to the page. I also stuck some of the gems around the page for an extra accent.
I used glossy accents on the watch to give it more definition and also used a few of the gems flowers and beads that came in the kit.

The Best Walk
How lovely is the almost monochrome effect of this page, save for a pop of red and pink. I love the damask print and the dictionary paper. The photos were taken on New Years Day 2016, where we went for 7km walk in the wet and cold near Windsor Castle in England.
The background damask paper was actually black, and I muted it down with a layer of gesso. I love the title and it reminds me of the book cover for The Secret.
I like the contrast of the rough burlap against the delicate string pearls. I did leave some glue residue while fiddling with the pearls, but it's not too noticeable when you look at the layout as a whole.

Together
For this layout, I used the frame paper that came in the kit, so it's a little smaller than 12"x12". I wanted to showcase the frame, so I didn't want to back it with another paper. The photo is of the nieces and nephews (Miss C included) on hubby's side. They're only able to get together every few years, so this photo is precious indeed.
A corner accent with a watch and some bingo cards to anchor the bottom left.
I cut out the inside of the frame and back it with some kraft cardstock which I stamped with the stamp set in the kit. I then tucked in a lace border before layering on the photo and title.
Lots of fussy cut flowers surround the photo and a few word definition tags to finish of the page.

Country Walk

Hi there. As I said before, I didn't get many layout done last month and have multiple kits waiting to be scrapped. Really have to get a move on but in the meantime, here is the second one I did.

Country Walk
I just love the muted colours in the paper line. So pretty and all the papers meld together beautifully. The photo was taken on a wet and muddy walk in the UK during Christmas time.
I added a cluster of flowers and also fussy cut some flowers to frame the photo.
I added molding paste through a stencil in random sections of the background paper.
I finished it off with some script stamping to round of the page.

Products Used
Patterned paper, gold alpha stickers from Prima Marketing Royal Menagerie collection
Fabric flowers and paper flowers from Prima Marketing
Fussy cut flowers, tags and word stickers from We R Memory Keepers Wildflower collection
Stencil from Prima Marketing
Script stamp from Hero Arts

Thanks for dropping by,

Christmas Layouts

Hi there. I've been pretty lax last month and only now do I have time to sit down and post my January layouts. Blame it on a busy January. I've also been doing kid's classes and haven't had as much time to work on layouts.  I did manage to finish two Christmas layouts so at least got those in. Still have a lot of Christmas layouts to do.

The first one, I've also used to enter the My Creative Scrapbook January sketch challenge.  This is the sketch:

Team Work
I love the bright colours of this paper line. I used three photos instead of just the one but I pretty much stayed to the rest of the sketch. I love pre-Christmas traditions and every year, we make a gingerbread house. This year Miss C got to work with her cousin to build and decorate one together.
I just love the bright reds and all the non traditional Christmas accents and ephemera.
The background paper is just lovely, adding that festive touch to the layout without overpowering it. For the top border, I used several paper strips, one of which I used my scallop punch on.

Products Used
Patterned papers fromPhoto Play Paper Dear Santa collection and Echo Park The Story of Christmas collection
Die cuts from Echo Park The Story of Christmas collection
Stickers from Photo Play Paper Dear Santa collection
Puffy glitter alphas from My Mind's Eye Cozy Christmas collection

Let's Trim The Tree
I love the cool grey colour of the background paper; a good foil for the greens and reds on the page. It was so great to stay at my sister in-law's house for Christmas and the first thing we did was decorate the tree.
I stenciled gesso over a damask mask before layering on the background papers. I also fussy cut the presents and trees from one of the patterned papers.
I love the Christmas carol paper and wanted to keep that as an accent.

Products Used
Unknown as I can't seem to find the kit I used.
